I just want to get a free credit report from the credit reporting agencies. I understand one is entitled to get one free for their own use.

you’re in the pregnancy an parenting section, lol. But you can’t get one free unless you have a credit or debit card. The first report is usually free of charge but you get updates on it monthly and they will charge for that. There’s no site that will give you your information without a card number. But free credit report.com will give you scores from three different services, so it’s probably the best.

There are 3 credit reporting agencies. They are Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. Each one has a website (just add .com after each one). You are entitled to one free credit report each year from each reporting agency. It is helpful to understand that what you are entitled to free is just your credit report. This is not the same as a credit score or credit rating. You can print out your free credit report and check the facts such as the names of the companies you owe money to and see if your payment history is accurate. However, you will not be given your credit score or rating on this. I suggest you go directly to each website of the reporting agency. If you search for web sites they are only going to be doing what you can do on your own. Going directly to the reporting agency website will ensure current information without as much risk of getting involved with a website that may not protect your personal information as securely.
